Takapuna wins two amazing Awards!

We are so incredibly excited, humbled and proud to share that the Takapuna Beach Business Association has won two amazing awards this year!

2degrees Auckland Business Awards (North & West) – Excellence in Community Contribution

Takapuna Beach Business Association is thrilled to share that we have WON the award for ‘Community Contribution’ at the 2Degrees Auckland Business Awards on Thursday 17th October!

The TBBA Board has had a strong commitment to improving and supporting local businesses, schools, and the community through advocacy, events, marketing and services, so its an absolute honour to be recognised in these prestigious awards, especially in this category.

We wish to thank everyone who has supported the association, whether that’s through sponsorship, being involved in our events or simply sharing our events/promotions. It’s a big team effort in supporting Takapuna and our local community – so thank you for all your mahi and support.

New Zealand Events Awards – Best Community or Not-for-Profit Event (over 3000 people)

On Tuesday 27 August, Takapuna Winter Lights won “Best Community or Not-for-Profit Event (over 3,000 people)” at the New Zealand Event Awards, held in Palmerston North. We are incredibly honoured to have taken out the top spot over some other phenomenal events from across the country.

This wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible team, so a massive thank you to: Dan Move, Tim Brebner and Angus Muir Design and their amazing teams. To all our wonderful funders and partners – THANK YOU for jumping on board, supporting our vision for this event, and being a part of our community. (Check out all these amazing people on the Winter Lights website here).

Thank you to all the artists, performers and groups that came together to add their special talents to elevate our event. And finally, all of YOU – our wonderful community – for coming along, for braving a chilly winter night to enjoy a night of light, creativity and magic in Takapuna.

We are so excited to see this event continue to grow and evolve, and to keep bringing the light and excitement to our community – we just can’t wait for next year!

Over the last year, we have delivered over 30 public events in Takapuna, including a very successful major event, Takapuna Winter Lights event in July which attracted over 50,000 people over the 4 days. Other public event highlights have included our Christmas Carnival, Summer Days Festival, Chinese New Year Festival, Latin Festival, Taste of Turkiye, Easter Festival and Filipino Festival, all attracting thousands people into Takapuna each time. We also hosted a series of markets, such as our Re-Generate upcycled clothing markets, Dog Day Out and Matariki Markets, as well as a series of activations in the new Waiwharariki Anzac Square, with support from the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board, which included Christmas music in the square and Friday Jams, Food Truck Thursdays and Movies in the Square. Each school holidays we also produced activities and activations such as super hero performances and games days. We have also pushed hospitality focused events with the Urban Wine Walk, Taste of Takapuna promotion, Wine and Light Night and Food tours. As well as our own produces events, we have also supported and sponsored many other events to be based in Takapuna and drive visitation such as the NZ National Pipe Band Championships, Takapuna Beach Cup NZ Waka Ama Championships, theatre shows at the Bruce Mason Theatre and Pumphouse Theatre and Art shows.

We look forward to continuing to support local businesses and community into the future.
